Drawing for Learning
Using drawing as a learning tool is proven to aid memory as the semantic, kinetic and visual parts of the brain are activated at the same time (Terada, 2019). This allows for connections to be made across neural pathways.
Gain drawing confidence (no matter your current ability:-) while learning about the underlying thinking skills that are developed during the drawing process (Hetland et al 2013).
Utilize the drawing process to design, improve upon and build a balloon car!
Music and Maths: One of South Africa’s biggest educational challenges is to raise the standard of Mathematics instruction. This workshop focuses on developing multiple calculation strategies while having fun! Enjoyment is proven to aid the learning process (Willis, 2017). Play Wheatley’s quick draw and do the Pentomino challenge while developing spatial reasoning skills and build a maze for marbles to gain an understanding of time.

Light-boxes: Cross-curricular learning facilitated through the construction of a light-box… The properties of light, perimeter, area, measurement, creative thinking, vocabulary development and drama… one cardboard box with so much potential! In this workshop teachers gain adaptive expertise and develop their integrative thinking.
Exploring colour: The promotion of observational and language skills through looking and describing tonal variation in water-colour paint. In this workshop teachers learn how to encourage an understanding of the properties of water (density, phases and the water-cycle) through a discovery learning process with paint.
Emphasis is placed on primary/secondary colour mixing, adjectives and science experiments, however, water-colour is a versatile medium! Teachers are encourage to be creative and apply water-colour painting to their everyday classroom activities.
Water-colour provides an opportunity for all the learning associated with paint without the mess! Just remember to use a small amount of water:-)
Play-dough: Learning through the senses, following a recipe, vocabulary development, indigenous plants and photosynthesis. In this workshop teachers will discuss learning strategies while building 2D/3D shapes and developing map work skills. Cross-curricular learning for all ages facilitated through play-dough.
